Plant ID, Lakes and (most importantly) Matt's Birthday!

Just had an interesting couple of days on the UV plots learning to identifying the local flora, taking measurements and some data collection. We're all getting accustom to the work and getting into our stride. Hopefully we'll be able to veture out into the CO2 plots too when Dylan has arrived to supervise.
During an afternoon stroll on Wednesday, we visited the nearby tourist centre, with the promise to see an old photo Jenny and Dylan in a particularly interesting multi-coloured hat. Unfortunately, the centre had been re-vamped and there was no sign of the legendary photo. However there was pleantly of other interesting things to see; such as examples of the local wildlife and information about the native Sami people.
Yesterday evening was spent around and in (for the particularly brave) the lake. So lots of beautiful scenery photos for the blog slideshow to be uploaded asap!
And most importantly a very happy birthday to Matt who, as an especially dedicated environmental biologist is spending his 21st amongst the plants of the arctic heath. Happy Birthday!

Arrived!

Finally the long wait is over and we have all arrived safely Abisko! We're just getting settled in and preparing for the next few weeks of planty work. So soon we should hopefully have lots of news on how things are progressing and many beautiful pictures to show you.

P.S. a huge thank you to the lovely Jenny and Dave who have given us the grand tour, all important health and safety info and made us all feel so welcome!
