Research

We have been gratefully funded by the BES and Aberystwyth University to travel to Swedish Lapland this summer. The aim is undertake research experience at the internationally acclaimed Abisko Scientific Research Station (ASRS), Sweden.

We will join research team that will access and harvest elements of experiments looking at the effects of Climate Change variables on heath communities in the sub-Arctic. We will gain invaluable research experience in Plant and Soil Ecology but also learn how scientists expose present day ecosystems to simulate future climates in order to prepare for the future.

ASRS is recognised internationally as a research centre for climate change studies attracting scientists from the four corners of the globe. The field season is short and we will be in Abisko from 13/07/2010 to 09/08/2010.  We will therefore experience the midnight sun and have many research activities planned.
